BMBF project: software for digital PCR

Example image of laboratory software for structural analysis

At the end of the year, Cadida was awarded the contract for the software development for a research project of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) to develop a novel reader for digital PCR.

The development will take place over 3 years in cooperation between 5 consortium partners, consisting of a research foundation, a university and industrial companies.

With this device, samples could be tested for the presence of certain DNA sequences much faster, more easily and with greater complexity. In practice, for example, blood samples could be tested for the presence of cancer DNA, or food samples such as maize for the presence of genetically modified components (GMOs).

In detail, our tasks comprise the computer-aided analysis and visualisation of the data, creating the user interface, camera and LED control, image acquisition, image analysis and presentation of the results.

Cadida is also responsible for the design and implementation of the software architecture, the data models and the interfaces. It develops user stories (use cases) and provides automated tests to verify them, in order to ensure the requirements are met in detail.

We are looking forward to this exciting project, which started in February 2021.
