Task
FeatureCAM recognises holes by their diameter and turns them into simple hole features with no more than two steps. The system does not know whether a cylinder with a diameter of 5 mm is a normal hole, a core hole for an M6 thread or an H7 fit. The programmer had to specify this every time.
Solution
- Hole database: A hole is taught once with the proven manufacturing strategy. From the second part onwards, the add-in assigns it automatically, recognised by steps, depth or a colour in the 3D model. In the NC code, identical holes always have the same name.
- Transferring machining operations: The add-in adapts the machining sequences of a sample part to the geometry of a new part. It recognises the profiles by colour, outer contour or automatic feature recognition.
- Vericut interface: We modernised the handover to simulation with Vericut, as well as the management of the clamping devices.
Benefits
Recurring parts are programmed faster. And at the machine, the consistent naming of the holes provides certainty.
