Task
Liquid samples pass through filter membranes held in slides. Analysis software then evaluates the slides. Our customer wanted to control the filtration semi-automatically and check the quality of its measurements with its own software.
Solution
- Controlling filtration: The software controls a syringe pump with a multi-way valve and reads a pressure sensor. If the membrane clogs, the pressure rises. The software then stops the pump and continues as soon as the pressure drops. The operator confirms important steps.
- Saving data: Every filtration is stored with its pressure curve in an SQLite database. A transfer database passes the data on to the analysis software.
- Configurable per system: Procedures and calibration values are stored in a configuration file for each device. This includes the cleaning cycle, data export and error cases such as excessive pressure.
- Quality control: A separate version of the analysis software with user levels, scans of reference slides and analyses of the spectral data in charts.
We have been developing the software further in several stages since 2024.
Benefits
Filtration runs with fewer manual steps and always in the same way. Every sample is documented with its pressure curve, and the analysis receives its data without anyone retyping it.
